Electronic Sports World Cup 2003
February 27th, 2003 - Ligarena is proud to provide additional informations
about the Electronic Sports World Cup 2003, which will take place July
8-13, 2003, at the Futuroscope in Poitiers, France.
The event will feature three official games and three exhibition games
with a total of $150.000 cash prizes to win. The three official games are
Counter-Strike, Warcraft III and Unreal Tournament 2003. The three exhibition
games are Quake 3 1on1, Counter-Strike female only and Xbox Unreal Championship.
The Electronic Sports World Cup will be a festive event. During the six
days, four times per day, visitors will have the opportunity to watch the
most thrilling matches played on-stage in two different amphitheaters with
a total of 1450 seats. Professionals will introduce the high-level competition
to the public by interviewing star players, providing exciting live comments
and live video editing mixing digital effects such as slow motions, players'
physiological data and match scores.
In order to participate to one of the official competitions, players will
have to qualify in one of the 35 preliminaries as listed on the official
site (http://www.esworldcup.com) By qualifying and winning a place for
the grand final, players will also win their flights to France and half-board
accomodation at the final event.
The Counter-Strike tournament will gather 36 teams qualified all around
the world and dispute $100.000 of cash prizes. The Warcraft III and Unreal
Tournament 2003 will each gather 32 players all around the world and dispute
$20.000 of cash prizes. The Quake 3 1on1 tournament will be a "Hall of
Fame" exhibition tournament with the 16 best quake 3 players invited to
dispute $10.000 of cash prizes.
